So you're convinced that Facebook isn't a fad, and that it could be a great way to build your business online. You've setup a profile, and a page, and now you are trying to figure out the purpose of all those tabs below your page name.
Let's start with the Wall. The Wall is the backbone of your Facebook page, and it's where you will be spending most of your time and effort on Facebook. It's also the most public part of your page: anything written here will appear in the news feed of anyone who likes your page. That makes the Wall a great place for carrying on conversations that could be of interest to a fairly general audience.
Next is the Info tab, which is where you list your contact info, hours of operation, etc. Fill in the fields relevant to your business, and remember that customers and potential customers will be using this info to learn more about how, where and when they can purchase your product or service.
Photos, obviously enough, are where you can add some multimedia color and flavor to your Facebook page. Photos of your products and storefront, tradeshows, charities, and other events you held or attended, and anything else that might give users a better understanding of your business are all fair game for inclusion in your photos section. Just be sure to sort your photos into albums, and provide descriptive titles.
Remember those conversations we said weren't appropriate for the Wall? The Discussions tab is where they should take place. The Discussion tabs is designed for more in-depth conversations that might not be of general interest, or that for one reason or another you might not want to show up in everyone's news feed. For example, Facebook is a great place to ask for feedback on a potential product offering, or offer tech support for a common bug or issue: the Discussions tab is the perfect place for these kinds of conversations to take place.
Depending on your business's needs, you
might want to take advantage of other tabs, like Links and Reviews,
to get the most out of your Facebook page. Just be sure that you have
mastered the basics before you start adding more features.
